History (Note: all stats above are from 2005 to current) Last meeting: 30/05/2015 - Game 37 - Newcastle North Stars 2 @ Sydney Bears 6, Penrith Ice Palace - http://aihl.net/1IsevPK
Season
Star performers Sydney Bears: Michael Schlamp Closing in on his 200th game, it could be argued that Michael Schlamp has been the heart and soul of the Sydney Bears, especially for the past few seasons. With Joseph Harcharik sitting eighth on points in the AIHL, Schlamp is having his best season since 2012, sitting fourth for all local players. On top of that, Schlamp is an inspirational captain that seems to lift his teammates. With the Bears still in contention for the finals, Schlamp will be a key to the Sydney-sider’s chances. Newcastle North Stars: Geordie Wudrick Although opposition teams will be cheering that the ever dangerous Luke Moffatt has headed off to fulfil his professional commitments in Italy, Geordie Wudrick will be out to continue his brilliant season that has seen him tally 66 points so far, without his linemate. Although it will be interesting to see how he goes without Moffatt, with whom he has had a fruitful relationship this season, Wudrick will be keen to continue the form that’s helped him to top the AIHL point scoring ladder. Cold Hard Stats 1. This is will be the third meeting between the Bears and the North Stars in 2015. The teams are currently locked in the season series at 1-1-0-0. 2. Although Newcastle hold a slight edge at the Penrith Ice Palace, the Bears hold a 42% win percentage at the ground, far exceeding the 29% win percentage at all grounds against the North Stars. 3. The North Stars have won eight of their last 10 games, with the two losses coming as one-goal losses on the road. 4. This will be the North Stars' first game without Luke Moffatt this season, with the league's highest goal scorer heading to Italy with 33 goals and 65 points in his 21 games for the club. 5. 2015 has been the Bears' Adrian Esposito has had his best scoring season in the AIHL, with his goal in his 200th game last Saturday taking him to 11 points, beating his previous best of 10 points he set in 2008.
