Star performers
Newcastle North Stars: Geordie Wudrick
There is little left to say about Geordie Wudrick. The North Stars star import is now the AIHL's record holder for goals scored (44) and points (91) after smashing the previous records. It's a dominance that will be a record that will be incredibly hard to beat in future seasons. However, the question will be whether he can keep his incredible form going. He's on an eight-game point-scoring streak with 27 points in those games, including seven goals last start against the Ice Dogs. With 16 goals in the past six games, Wudrick will again be the go to guy if the North Stars are to win a fifth Goodall Cup.
CBR Brave: Aleski Toivonen
In a team with the firepower the likes of Stephen Blunden and Kelly Geoffrey, it's often easy to overlook the defensive aspects of the team. Aleksi Toivonen will arguably be the most important player on the Brave's roster this weekend, which is a huge responsibility for the 19-year old rookie goaltender. With an 0.884 save perventage and 3.89 GAA, Toivonen has been solid but it may not have told the whole story. Firstly, being a Australian-born Finn, Toivonen frees up another skating import spot, and has also produced a similar GAA to Josh Unice. As long the Brave can continue the strong offensive production, Toivonen is a strong enough goalie that the Brave could go a long way to upsetting the minor premier North Stars.
