Northstars end weekend with a win over Melbourne Ice |

The Newcastle Northstars finished the weekend on a high after winning 3-2 over the Melbourne Ice The game took a slow start, with the teams locked in end to end hockey. Sammy Banga, the newest addition to the Northstars lineup was first on the scoreboard after slipping past the Melbourne Ice goaltender, Jayden Pine-Murphy. Melbourne Ice fought hard throughout the first period to equalise, which with 33 seconds left in the first period, Dylan Anderson managed to do. The second period saw the two teams fight for every inch of ice. Again the Northstars took the lead, after Joe Harcharik scored with Sammy Banga and Sam Lawson on the assists. Melbourne Ice answered back quickly with Dillon Lawrence equalising the game once again. The third period allowed Northstars captain Bert Malloy to score taking the Northstars into the lead 3-2. Working hard in their defensive lines, the Northstars were able to hold Melbourne Ice out and nab the win |
