AIHL announces Week 13 Player Safety Review

The AIHL has announced the following suspension notices arising from games played in Week 13.

Game 97: Melbourne Ice vs Melbourne Mustangs
At 1:59 of the 2nd period, Melbourne Ice #10 was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 48.3: Illegal Check to the Head or Neck. Melbourne Ice #10 has been suspended until 11 August 2024 or the end of the AIHL 2024 season (up to and including AIHL Finals), whichever is the latter.

Game 99: Melbourne Ice vs Sydney Bears
At 19:02 of the 1st period, Melbourne Ice #25 was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 62.3: Spearing. Melbourne Ice #25 has been suspended for two games to be served in Game 115 against Brisbane Lightning in Week 15 on 13 July and Game 120 against Melbourne Mustangs in Week 16 on 19 July.

At 12:33 of the 3rd period, Melbourne Ice Assistant Coach was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 39.5(ii): Abuse of Officials. Melbourne Ice Assistant Coach has been suspended for two games to be served in Game 115 against Brisbane Lightning in Week 15 on 13 July and Game 120 against Melbourne Mustangs in Week 16 on 19 July.

Game 101: Canberra Brave vs Newcastle Northstars
At 2:13 of the 3rd period, Newcastle Northstars #8 was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 46.1: Fighting. Newcastle Northstars #8 has been suspended for one game to be served in Game 104 against Brisbane Lightning in Week 13 on 30 June.

At 2:13 of the 3rd period, Canberra Brave #81 was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 46.1: Fighting. Canberra Brave #81 has been suspended for one game to be served in Game 105 against Sydney Ice Dogs in Week 13 on 30 June.

Game 105: Sydney Ice Dogs vs Canberra Brave
At 3:03 of the 3rd period, Sydney Ice Dogs #89 was assessed a Game Misconduct under Rule 46.5: Dangerous Puncher - "Sucker Puncher". Sydney Ice Dogs #89 has been suspended for two games to be served in Game 107 against Perth Thunder in Week 14 on 6 July and Game 110 against Perth Thunder in Week 14 on 7 July.
