Smooth Kubara skates to Stickhandling title |

Smooth skating CBR Brave rookie Casey Kubara has claimed the Rifle Media Stickhandling Competition with a quick time in the Final at the AIHL All-Stars Skills Competition at the Penrith Ice Palace on Saturday night. It was a hotly contested event with Team Schlamp dominating, winning all but one heat that was claimed by Jan Safar, who was lucky as Ben Breault lost the puck on the final stretch home. Kubara was strong in the heat with a time of 17.34 seconds but blew it out of the water with a 17.06 second time in the Final to defeat Safar. A man of few words, Kubara was happy with the result. “I went up against my team mate Jan Safar, so it was good fun,” he said. “It was cool.” Results Heat 1 - Casey Kubara (Team Schlamp) – 17.34 seconds – defeated Tommy Powell (Team Armstrong) Heat 2 – Brent Vandenberg (Team Schlamp) – 17.55 seconds – defeated Michael Dorr (Team Armstrong) Heat 3 – Jan Safar (Team Armstrong) - 17.46 seconds – defeated Ben Breault (Team Schlamp) Heat 4 – Josh Harris (Team Schlamp) – 18.73 seconds – defeated Paddy Ward (Team Armstrong) Final – Casey Kubara (Team Schlamp) – 17.06 seconds – defeated Jan Safar (Team Armstrong) |
