EOI: AIHL Head of Player Safety

The AIHL is now seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of AIHL Head of Player Safety.

This is a critical volunteer role within the AIHL Management Team.

Head of Player Safety Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor and execute annual action plans and critical paths for Player Safety strategy
  • Lead the annual review, development and administration of playing rules impacting player safety
  • Oversee all aspects of the supplemental review and discipline process
  • Provide oversite and administer IIHF and league standards related to playing facilities
  • Manage the collection and reporting of health and safety analytics
  • Manage the qualification and scheduling of all AIHL officials in collaboration with each states' Referee-In-Chief.
  • End to end management of all on-ice infractions, disciplinary and tribunal processes
  • Relationship management with internal and external stakeholders in the hockey and sports system in general to ensure the proactive identification of best practices for player safety
  • Undertake training and presentations to AIHL member teams (Governors), players and other stakeholders
  • Develop training and education programs in collaboration with IHA to undertake continuous improvement of the quality and consistency of On-Ice Officials.
  • Manage the annual budget and periodic payments to all national referees for game fees and costs
