Canberra Brave alternate captain Casey Kubara has signed with the Newcastle Northstars for the 2025 season, the club announced via their
social media channels.
Kubara also announced his departure via
his Instagram:
"The end of an era. After almost 10 years in Canberra playing for the Brave, I’ve decided it’s time for me to move on. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that has been a part of my journey since day one. To my teammates, coaches, staff, fans, volunteers, sponsors, and the entire Brave community, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my time in Canberra so special, I have truly loved every second of it. I’ve met some amazing people along the way and we’ve made some amazing memories together, thank you for welcoming me to the capital, taking me in and making it some of the best years of my life that I will never forget. 3 Goodall Cup championships, many wins, a few losses, and a ton of blood, sweat, tears, and beers. I’m excited for a new chapter in life and in hockey and I look forward to seeing many of you in and around the rink in the future.
Much love,
#15" Kubara has been with the Brave since the 2016 season, putting up 104 goals and 157 assists in 167 games in the nation's capital and is now the Brave's all-time leading scorer. He won the Goodall Cup three times with the Brave and was part of 2024's triumph.
Casey joins his brother Tyler and goaltender Aleksi Toivonen, who have signed with Central Coast and Perth respectively, in the list of departures for the Brave in the off-season.
The Northstars open their season on the road against the Perth Thunder on April 5th.
